Your Experience: The RI Child Support System is understaffed, and far behind. The IVR system is constantly down, and the staff very rarely returns phones calls. For roughly a week now, the IVR system has just rang and rang. A check sent in over a week ago by my child’s father remains un-cashed, and I have yet to receive the funds in my Kids Care Account. I chose to go through the legal system to receive support to have it on the books, and legal. I was receiving support more frequently prior to going through the actual court systems. Today, either my child’s father is allowed to accrue large arrears, or when he does send in payments, it takes weeks before the checks are processed and funds are released. Horrible, horrible system. I feel bad for those that are actually dependent on this money, because the system is flawed in so many ways.
