Need grandson’s birth certificate, father’s name not on it but is ordered to pay child support

Q) I’m trying to find out how to talk to a child support employee about a 16 year old child which is my grandson and lives with me in Texas and I need to obtain his birth certificate but his father s name is not on the birth certificate but he is ordered to pay child support per court order but his mother refuses to give him his birth certificate and I need a form from your office to verify he’s ordered from the state to get his birth certificate

A) You may be able to get help from the child support office in Texas to obtain a birth certificate for your grandson. The first step would be to contact the local child support office and explain your situation. They may be able to provide you with information on how to obtain a copy of the birth certificate, including any forms that may be required. It may also be helpful to provide them with the court order that requires the father to pay child support.

The child support office may be able to work with you and the court to obtain the necessary documentation. However, the birth certificate is typically a matter of public record and can be obtained through the state health department, vital statistics office, or similar agency in your area.
