My experience at Aberdeen SD Child Support office – Tammy

Your Experience: Terrible. they pick and choose situations, and make up their own rules. When I talked to my case worker he decided to withhold my payment because the father told him I was dropping the case. This case workder didn’t contact me, and I definitely didn’t contact my case worker to tell him I was stopping the process….but he held on to the money, didn’t return it to the father or distribute it to me. Decided I would not get child support for July and Aug because my child is with their father. When it clearly states in the SD parenting guidelines 1.8 Child Support Abatement: Unless a court order otherwise provides, child support sill notabate during any period when the children are with the noncustodial paretn. SD law allows for child support abatement and offsets under certain circumstances. However, no abatement or offset may be taken unless there is a court order authorizing it. AND CURRENTLY THERE IS NO COURT ORDER!!!
