I am receiving letters from Alabama child support saying that I owe $1194 and some odd cents to child support payments.

I have sent around 6 emails to the email csed@dhr.Alabama.gov showing proof of my next court date of many that I have already had establishing the orders of my child support payments that I am making and still needing to continue to make. In the emails I sent they include proof of many payments towards child support and I am one time with my payments also. This is in the state of Colorado.

A) It seems there might be a misunderstanding or a communication issue between the child support agencies in Alabama and Colorado. To address this situation and resolve the discrepancy between the child support amounts claimed by Alabama and the payments you have been making in Colorado, you should take the following steps:

  1. Contact the Alabama Child Support Enforcement Division (CSED): Since you’ve already sent several emails to csed@dhr.Alabama.gov and have not received a satisfactory response, consider reaching out to them by phone. Try to speak with a representative directly to explain your situation and provide proof of your payments.
  2. Document Everything: Keep detailed records of all your communications with both the Alabama and Colorado child support agencies. This includes emails, phone calls, and any written correspondence. Document the names of the individuals you speak with, the dates and times of conversations, and the content of those discussions.
  3. Contact the Colorado Child Support Office: Reach out to the child support office in Colorado where your child support order was established. Explain the situation and provide them with documentation of your payments and any communication with the Alabama agency. They may be able to help facilitate communication between the two states and resolve the issue.
  4. Request a Review: In Colorado, you can request a review of your child support order to ensure it accurately reflects your income, payments, and circumstances. If there is an error in your order, this can be corrected through a modification process.
  5. Legal Assistance: If the issue remains unresolved after taking these steps, you may want to consult with an attorney who specializes in child support matters. They can provide legal advice and help you navigate the process of resolving the discrepancy.
  6. Keep Making Payments: While working to resolve this issue, continue making your child support payments as required by your Colorado court order. Consistency in making payments will demonstrate your commitment to meeting your obligations.

Remember that child support cases involving multiple states can be complex, and it may take time to resolve the issue fully. Be patient and persistent in your efforts to communicate with both the Alabama and Colorado agencies, and consider seeking legal assistance if necessary to protect your rights and ensure that your child support payments are properly credited.
