paid child support for a child that does not belong to me

Q) I’ve been calling the Pikeville office and going by there since March. I spoke with someone from Frankfort back in May regarding my husband’s child support case. He passed away in October of 2019 and child support continued to add up until March and was taken out of our tax return. The child’s mother started receiving social security for the child in November of 2019 and I was supposed to get refunded for what I did not have to pay from November to March. Since March I’ve been told it was calculated and I had to wait until the injured spouse form was processed. Now I’m being told my money was sent to the child’s mother. So I paid child support for a child that does not belong to me and she got almost $4oo a month from Social Security. I just called a couple of weeks ago and was told it was calculated what I was owed. Now the Pikeville office doesn’t want to talk to me at all.

A) I’m so sorry to hear about your husband’s passing. It sounds like you’re going through a really tough time.

I understand that you’re frustrated with the Pikeville office. It sounds like they’re not being very helpful.

I would suggest that you keep calling and going by the office. Be persistent. Don’t give up.

You could also try contacting the Frankfort office again. See if they can help you.

You could also try contacting your state representative or senator. They may be able to help you get in touch with someone who can help you.

It’s important to remember that you’re not alone. There are people who can help you. With time and effort, you can get the help that you need.
