A) If your ex-husband has not paid child support in over 3 years, you can take the following steps:
- Talk to your ex-husband about why he isn’t paying child support.
- Get a “Plan B” for covering your financial gap as soon as possible.
- Talk to a lawyer about your options.
- Contact your local government child support agency.
- Use a private child support collection agency.
- You can also ask for an income withholding order if your ex-husband won’t pay his child support or alimony.
If your ex-husband ignores the hearing request, it could result in a jail sentence. If your ex is unable to pay child support because of legitimate reasons, you should get down to work immediately to make up for the lost funds.
